Dr. H. Newton Lovvorn
Dr. Newton Lovvorn is a specialist in gynecology and is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, he has served as president of the Tennessee OB-GYN Society and as chief of OB-GYN and chief of staff at Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Lovvorn received his M.D. degree from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1963, completed his internship at University Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi and his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Vanderbilt in 1967. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force and as chief of OB-GYN services at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas, before returning to Nashville to enter private medical practice and serve as an assistant clinical professor in OB-GYN at Vanderbilt in 1969.
Active in a wide range of medical associations, Dr. Lovvorn recently received the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Lonnie Burnett Vanderbilt OB-GYN Society. He is a member of the North American Menopause Society and the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. He presently practices office gynecology and specializes in menopause and bone density.
Dr. Lovvorn is married and has three children and two grandchildren. He resides in Nashville.
